Carnival Procession at 6 p.m.

Grampound with Creed Carnival takes place every year on the first Saturday in September.

In 2015, it was on Saturday 5 September.

The Carnival parade starts at 6 p.m. and proceeds up the main road (Fore Street, Grampound) which is closed to traffic during the parade. After a short stop at the top of the hill, the procession returns down the main road to the recreation ground where the prizes are presented for best entries. Entries are accepted at the hall in the recreation ground for the parade between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. or you can pre-book. There are classes for walking and motorised entries. All motorised entries will be inspected for insurance cover and to ensure that they meet safety standards.

The classes include: walking singles (various ages), walking pairs, walking groups, horse or donkey, decorated pram, bike or dillie, motorised float (children and adult), trade exhibit, carnival queens, fairy queens, fairy king, vintage or classic vehicles. Or walkers in fancy dress are very welcome to join the parade without formally entering if they wish.

For details of classes, see Carnival classes. However, vehicles must register as above and ensure that insurance and safety criteria are met.

In order to speed things up on the day, you can register in advance online on the Carnival classes page.
